New Flowbench Software and Computer System
January 9, 2007
In the last few months we upgraded the computer system and software on our SuperFlow 600 flowbench. The new software takes multiple data samples and averages them thereby giving us more precise data, the new system also records barometric pressure and temperature which helps when comparing tests conducted under different weather conditions. The flowbench is an invaluable tool when it comes to cylinder head flow development, in addition to airflow, cross sectional area and taper are extremely important factors when developing a cylinder head port which do not necessarily show up in a flowbench test. Flow data recorded on the same bench is very valuable information, but comparing data from different benches with different fixtures etc. will not give you an apples to apples comparison. At the end of the day we race cars not flowbenches so how our heads work in the real world is what really matters. We include flow sheets with all our heads whether they be hand ported or CNC ported. We are hoping to add wet flow technology to our flow bench later this year which will be another asset in our quest to produce the best ported Pontiac cylinder heads available. |
